Building a startup can be a lonely journey, but it really doesn’t have to be! Have you ever wondered if there are businesses that already have what you want – and YOU may have something they want?
We can’t stress it enough – partnerships, collaborations, or anything involving teaming up for a win-win situation can be a total game-changer for a business. Just look at these guys:
- Microsoft generates 95% of its commercial revenue through its partner ecosystem
- Zoom’s channel partners contributed to 40% of its business in Japan and over 70% of its U.S. Federal Government business
- Undercover Boots – a small rubber boot company with big ideas, got DHL as their delivery partner and was able to deliver to over 80 countries, increasing their sales by 126%!
Big or small, being able to identify the opportunity for a partnership or a collaboration can be huge – and seriously fun – for your startup. If you need some inspo on the various strategic partnerships startups can leverage, we’ve written about it here. But let’s go over it again real quick.
Types of Partnerships
- Market Expansion Partnerships: Teaming up with a company that’s already big in the market you want to enter
- Technology and Innovation Partnerships: Working together with another company to mix your tech skills and come up with cool new stuff
- Supply Chain and Manufacturing Partnerships: Joining forces to make your supply chain smoother and grow faster.
- Marketing or Brand Synergy Partnerships: Partnering for joint marketing to boost each other’s brand and reach new customers.
- Customer Experience Enhancement Partnerships: Collaborating to make the customer experience better and more fun.
- Environmental Impact Partnerships: Teaming up to tackle environmental issues and promote eco-friendly practices.
And by the way, this is just a starter list; partnerships can be as creative as you want them to be! Depending on your business type, you can come up with your OWN win-win situations. Think cafe-bookstore, startup-coworking space, fashion-charity, e-commerce-AR, software-cybersecurity. I mean, the list is endless!
If you get it right, you can set your business up to access new markets, share resources and expertise, reduce costs, improve efficiency, enhance credibility, and definitely accelerate growth!
